A Lifelong professional coach

Coaching processes based on 15 years of real world coaching experience.

About Chris - the Head Coach at Efficient Endurance.

Chris Searle is an endurance coach who specialises in helping busy adults develop structure, consistency and confidence in their training. With years of experience working with athletes aged 30 to 60, Chris understands the unique demands that careers, families and real life place on long-distance preparation. His coaching approach is built around clarity, communication and long-term development, not hype or quick fixes.

Chris works closely with every athlete to ensure their training has purpose and direction. His programmes combine evidence-informed structure with realistic weekly planning, ensuring athletes can progress without compromising their responsibilities or losing momentum when life becomes demanding. His calm, professional style allows athletes to feel supported, understood and guided rather than pushed or overwhelmed.

What sets Chris apart is his commitment to relationship-led coaching. He believes the most meaningful progress comes from consistent communication, honest feedback and a clear understanding of each athlete’s goals and personal circumstances. He limits coaching capacity to maintain high standards and provide the level of attention required for reliable, long-term improvement.

Across triathlon, Ironman, marathon, cycling and endurance swimming, Chris helps athletes move from uncertainty and inconsistency toward confidence, structure and measurable performance gains. His goal is simple: to help committed adults train efficiently, race confidently and continue progressing year after year with a plan that fits their lives, not one that competes with them.

A Timeline of my story

c. 2004
How it Started

My coaching journey began over 20 years ago in a swimming pool when I joined my local swimming club and quickly progressed from strength to strength.

I was always eager to improve and, as my fitness gains started to level off, I delved into the complexities of swimming technique.

Age 14

By the age of 14, I was already suggesting new technical ideas to my coaches and furthering my knowledge by completing my assistant coaching qualification, helping my peers improve their technique.

Age 18

At 18, I swiftly completed my Level 1 and Level 2 Swim Coaching Qualifications and began helping out at my local club.

Age 20

At 20, I was offered my first professional role as Head Swimming Coach at North Norfolk Vikings Swimming Club. Within three years, we were competing on a national stage against clubs with up to 10 times as many members.

Age 24

During this time, I also completed my British Swimming Level 3 Coaching Qualification at the age of 24, becoming the youngest person at the time to achieve this milestone.

I then took on a Head Coaching role at Dereham Otters Swimming Club. With 100 members and access to just 10 hours of swimming time per week, it was a step up from my previous role but still limited compared to bigger clubs that had up to 20 hours per week. I was determined to elevate the club to the next level, and with limited resources, I meticulously planned everything to maximize efficiency.

After seven years, I produced the club's first British National Championships qualifiers—eight in total! Four of them reached the national championship finals, and two became national champions, all while training half as much but twice as efficiently as their peers!

During this head coach role, I was also fortunate to be selected as the Head Coach for Norfolk County Swimming Association and was part of the 2019 and 2021 English Swimming Talent Coaching Team.

Age 30

In 2022, I decided to transition from coaching swimming, having grown tired of evening and weekend work, and turned my focus to triathlon—a sport I had been passionate about since 2014 and in which I personally competed at the World Sprint Championships in Montreal that same year.

I applied the same philosophy to triathlon that I used in swimming: maximizing the time available to achieve the most effective results. This approach guided my research into running and various disciplines of cycling.

Since then, I have completed my British Triathlon Coaching Courses and the England Athletics Run Coaching Course.
